Mantouki is a suburb with multiple uses in the history of Corfu. In the late 19th century and early 20th century, it played a decisive role in the economic development of Corfu. It was the most densely industrialized area of the island and was among the most economically successful cities in Greece.

AEBEK
• The Corfu Olive Oil Industry Company (AEBEK) was founded in 1924.
• The factory's production departments were housed in a total of 11 buildings, of which 5 have been designated as historically preserved monuments.
These are the following:
a) olive pomace factory
b) refinery
c) chemical office
d) soap factory
e) weighing station.
• These buildings have been designated as preserved because they housed basic functions of the production chain
and are representative examples of the industrial Corfiot architecture of the early 20th century.
• In 1985, the olive oil factory became the property of the Agricultural Bank under the name AEBEK (Agricultural Union of Industrial Establishments of Corfu).
Corfiot urban architecture is characterized by:

All of the above highlighted an architectural ensemble that is balanced, simple and comprehensive without expressive verbiage
